Course Descriptions

El Patio Spanish Language School was established in 2001 as an alternative centre for the study of Spanish and Latin American Language and Culture offering professional teaching in a fun and authentic Spanish environment.

Our core courses run for 15 hours (1½-hrs x 10 weeks) and are called LEVELS. So for example, Elementary 1 is 15 hours, Elementary 2 is 15 hours, and so on. These Levels are grouped into Elementary, Upper-Elementary, Lower-Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate, Advanced, Superior and Proficiency, and each group contains 3 to 5 levels. They run 4 times a year, in Terms. Some are offered as intensive courses in January (usually the lower levels and a higher level for oral practice).

These courses are all conversational and highly practical, with attention given to language structure, enabling students to achieve a high level of fluency and accuracy in the more advanced levels.

All courses are suitable for travellers, but we also offer special 7.5-hour survival courses (5 weeks) called Spanish for Travel, more information...

The 10-week courses are directed towards the criteria for the DELE examinations (Diploma of Spanish as a Second Language), which are held in Melbourne once per year. These Diplomas are organised by the Institute of Cervantes (Spain), and are internationally recognised Spanish language qualifications.
